Dr. GR Public School started in 1990 in Neyyattinkara (a rural district) and blossomed into a fully recognized CBSE school up to class XII in 2002. The school today has strength of 2768 students. 10% of the children are educated free of charge. The strength of teachers is 123. The school is most sought after in the town and is known for its all-round value-based education.
She started “Daya Industry” a Small Scale Industry (Women Industries Program) in 1985. In order to address the pathetic condition of feminine hygiene she started producing sanitary napkins at a much lower price than branded products available at that time. She expanded Daya into a hi-tech centre producing biomedical devices and several disposable sterilized products including: (a) dressings for the operation theatre; (b) urinary bags; (c) face masks & caps; (d) clean room wear for operation theatres; (e) sanitary napkins for regular and maternity usage; (f) incontinent pads; and (g) facility for ETO sterilization for hospital instruments.
In 1995, she started producing suture rings used in Indian made artificial Heart Valves. She has been the trusted partner to M/s. TTK Pharma. From a humble beginning of 100 per month, today she supplies more than 1,500 per month. Over 55,000 heart patients till date have benefited from the heart valves which are implanted through open-heart surgery.
She established a Khadi weaving Centre in 1985 with the help of Central Social Welfare Board and Khadi commission. The center specializes on a new variety of Khadi Muslin sarees (GR sarees). All the works like preprocessing, spinning, dyeing, and weaving are done in this unit. The products are retailed through Khadi bhandars across the country.
